Have you ever met someone that looked familiar, but you knew that you have never met before. Or, have you ever had a waking dream that seemed so real that you would swear that it was a memory. That is exactly what happened to Roger Mendoza! In his new book, "My Little Cowboy" Roger writes about a life lived in the 1800's. The story focuses on the relationship between Alexander and his son in the 1860's, and then continues into the 20th century.
As a child in the 1950's, Roger was taunted by nightmares and of memories of a life somehow familiar. The memories were oftentimes overwhelming for Roger until one day in 2005, while driving to work; memories of an 1800's life came to him as waking dreams. As soon as Roger wrote these "memories" down (in My Little Cowboy), the taunting (and haunting) memories seemed to subside.
The story is autobiographical in that Roger, the author, claims to be the re-incarnation of Alexander.
In 2005 Roger set out to collect all of his notes and recollections to create My Little Cowboy. It took seven years for Roger to discover all of the connections between that story and his emotionally complicated present life.
